Work to be done: Clear a new trail route
Tools: Rakes, loppers, hand saws
We're rerouting a section of trail to avoid some wetlands, connecting the Windsor Apartments to Chamberlain Street, the schools and Center Trail.
Note: The workdays are the first Saturday of each month (except in May) at 9AM, but the specifics may not be worked out until a week or two before the workday. If you see "TBD", check back later for the details. And sometimes the weather or other factors force a change of plans, so check here before heading to the worksite.
About the workdays:
Hopkinton's Trails Committee and the Trails Club run a trail workday on the first Saturday of each month. The work will vary depending upon the needs at each site: everything from removing invasive plants to building trail bridges. Participants will need gloves and sturdy footwear. If you have them, bring tools appropriate for the work to be done. We usually have some to lend as well.
What? You don't have experience or special trail work skills? No problem! You just need to be willing to lend a hand where needed...there's always something for everyone to do. You might even learn a new skill!
This is a great opportunity to give back to the trails you love. Each workday lasts just a few hours, and you'll be with a fun group of people.
