Apparently, Mother Nature wants us to take a break from trail work. Once again, a deep snow pack has thwarted our plans to clear brush long the Hughes Farm trail. We'll try again in April.
About the workdays:
Hopkinton's Trails Committee and the Trails Club run a trail workday on the first Saturday of each month. The work will vary depending upon the needs at each site: everything from removing invasive plants to building trail bridges. Participants will need gloves and sturdy footwear. If you have them, bring tools appropriate for the work to be done, but we usually have some to lend.
What? You don't have experience or special trail work skills? No problem! You just need to be willing to lend a hand where needed...there's always something for everyone to do. You might even learn a new skill!
This is a great opportunity to give back to the trails you love. Each workday lasts just a few hours, and you'll be with a fun group of people. By the way, if you're a student or Scout in need of community service hours, this qualifies!
We also have ad hoc workdays from time to time. We'll spread the word via this website, email, and Facebook, so be sure to subscribe to our email list and follow us on Facebook to be informed.
If you have a suggestion for a trail that needs work, or know of a specific issue to be addressed, you can report it to the Hopkinton Trails Committee.
Note: The date & time for each workday is always the first Saturday of the month at 9AM, but the specifics may not be worked out until a week or two before the workday. If you see "TBD", check back later for the details. And sometimes the weather or other factors force a change of plans, so check here before heading to the worksite.
