Work to be done: Clear debris from the trail and drainage ditches.
Tools: Rakes, shovels
It's the annual Center Trail spring cleanup! The main work is clearing out the drainage ditches along the side of the trail so they continue to keep water off the trail.
Note: The date & time for each workday is always the first Saturday of the month at 9AM, but the specifics may not be worked out until a week or two before the workday. If you see "TBD", check back later for the details. And sometimes the weather or other factors force a change of plans, so check here before heading to the worksite.
About the workdays:
Hopkinton's Trails Committee and the Trails Club run a trail workday on the first Saturday of each month. The work will vary depending upon the needs at each site: everything from removing invasive plants to building trail bridges. Participants will need gloves and sturdy footwear. If you have them, bring tools appropriate for the work to be done. We usually have some to lend as well.
What? You don't have experience or special trail work skills? No problem! You just need to be willing to lend a hand where needed...there's always something for everyone to do. You might even learn a new skill!
This is a great opportunity to give back to the trails you love. Each workday lasts just a few hours, and you'll be with a fun group of people.
